About Us

Hello! We are Laura and Lucy, the faces behind Salt Dog Studios!

Salt Dog Studios was born way back in 2012. We were just two sisters with a dream, a dream to bring beautiful and unique dog products to the market and create the collars, leads, and harnesses we wanted for our own dogs, that simply weren’t available then.

At the time, we had three dogs between us; we called them the ‘original Salt Dogs’. Lexi, Ebony, and Maddie. Unfortunately, Maddie is the last remaining original Salt Dog at the ripe old age of 14. We wanted functional dog products that were pretty and had personality! And so we got to work. 

We started small on our mum and dad’s kitchen table, just us, a sewing machine, and a vision. 

After a while, we outgrew the kitchen table and moved to a studio, continuing to make beautiful fabric dog products, eventually going on to introduce our 100% organic hemp collection (making us the first U.K. Hemp supplier for dog collars, leads, and harnesses!) 

Fast forward to now, we continued to grow and had to enlist some help! Everything is still designed by us, and in fact all designs and patterns are hand drawn by us here, so you won’t find them anywhere else! 

We live in lovely Whitstable, still close to our mum, who is an integral part of this family-run business. We juggle motherhood and business between us. Laura has gone on to have twin daughters, dog Figgy, and cats Flint and Floyd. Lucy has two sons, dogs Maddie and Willow, and cats Homie, Astrid, and Gatsby. And of course we need to mention our mum's dog, Florrie, who features as a model! 

We have just as much passion for Salt Dog as we did nearly 14 years ago, when we first started and we hope you love our products as much as we do!
