Hello! We’re Laura and Lucy, the sisters behind Salt Dog Studios.

Salt Dog Studios began back in 2012 with a simple idea: to create beautiful, distinctive dog accessories that we genuinely wanted for our own dogs.

At the time, we had three dogs between us, Lexi, Ebony and Maddie, who inspired the original “Salt Dogs”.

We started small, around our mum and dad’s kitchen table, developing our first products with a simple setup, a lot of ideas and a shared love of good design. As Salt Dog grew, we eventually moved into our studio here in Whitstable on the Kent coast.

Today, original illustration is at the heart of Salt Dog Studios.

Lucy, our illustrator and Creative Director, creates the artwork behind our collections, while Laura works across the commercial, operational and product-development side of the business.

Together, we turn those illustrations into practical, distinctive pet accessories, working through everything from artwork and product development to sampling and manufacturing.

Alongside our own Salt Dog Studios collections, we now also work with other businesses to create their own pet-accessory ranges. That might mean using one of Lucy’s existing designs under their own branding, or developing something completely original from the first sketch onwards.

We’re still proudly family-run and UK-based, and still very much involved in every stage of what we create.

We live in lovely Whitstable, close to our mum, who remains an integral part of Salt Dog life, and juggle the business with children, cats, dogs and the general chaos that comes with running a family business.

Nearly 14 years after starting around that kitchen table, we still care about the same things: original design, thoughtful products and creating things that feel a little different from everything else out there.
